Carving a statue

Mind games can be important and help make the difference between doing really well versus doing OK in waisting away.

We read a story about Michelangelo and carving the statue of David. He was asked how he did this amazing feat from an ordinary block. The great artist replied that David was always there in the block of marble. It was just up to him to chisel away piece by piece and uncover David.

Same holds true for you! There is a masterpiece waiting inside. You just have a little extra covering on top of it. It is up to you to be the artist who chips away and uncovers the slimmer you that is hidden inside.

In other words, it is not something new you have to create, but rather it is something that is already there.

There is a second part to this mind game. It took Michelangelo time to pull this off. A little bit of stone was removed at a time. It was not a quick process.

You too will find it takes you time as a sculptor to uncover the new you. A little bit at a time. There can be moments where you feel stagnant and not much is changing. Hang in there. You might just be setting the stage for the next jump. Keep on eating healthy and keep up the exercise. You will see visible results appear.

So see yourself as a sculptor, see yourself as Michelangelo, and visualize the new you that is waiting to be uncovered, a bit at a time. You can get there if you believe.
