Burn the Ship- Toss When Clothes Are Too Big
One of the great sailors was Captain Cook. He discovered
many lands during his lifetime. This tip is in honor of what we learned from
him
Discovering the island was just a mid point. They then had
to land on the island, explore what was there, map the island and bring back
other information.
In other words, there was work to be done- hazardous work.
The current natives could be vicious. After a long trip to get to the island,
it could be easy to think of bailing out at the first sign of trouble and
retreat back to the safety of water.
Captain Cook was a leader. He made sure the crew stuck
with it. No early retreat.
What did he do? Once they landed, he burned the ship. Now
they had to make it work on the new island.
So what does that to do with your program?
You too are taking a trip- to a new you. The new you will
need smaller clothes than what you had been wearing.
Your old clothes will become too big to wear. You get to
pull out the smaller clothes that had been hiding in the corner of your closet,
or newer clothes that you shop for.
Now you might think that you should put those larger
clothes back in the corner of the closet, to have as a safety valve.
Don’t do it. Get rid of those bigger clothes at once
(except to keep a pair for memories sake, to show how much you have lost).
Otherwise, if you keep those older clothes around, you are
sending a signal to your subconscious mind that you think there is a chance you
might not make it.
On the other hand, if you get rid of the larger clothes,
you tell your subconscious mind that going back is not an option and that you
will succeed. You get leverage on yourself. If you start to put a couple
pounds back on, you don’t have big clothes to fall back on. You have no choice
but to get on track.
So take a lesson from Captain Cook. Once you reach that
smaller “you”, get rid of the cargo that the “larger” you needed. Say goodbye
to the larger you.
